St. Mary Residency Programs

medical residents

Charmaine ChanWelcome!

St. Mary Medical Center is a 371-bed hospital that has served generations of families in Bucks County and the surrounding greater Philadelphia region. St. Mary offers advanced non-invasive treatments, adult and pediatric emergency services, inpatient medical and rehabilitation facilities, along with supportive health and wellness programs for our patients. We also belong to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, which includes Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa., Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., and Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del. This partnership allows us to share resources as well as opportunities for education.

St. Mary Medical Center has been a recipient of the U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals recognition for three consecutive years. We are accredited by the American Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for Internal Medicine, as well as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for our Pharmacy Residency.

Despite having built relatively new residency programs, the faculty in our Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Pharmacy residencies are dedicated to providing excellent clinical mentorship and training to future residents in a supportive environment. Under the guidance of our knowledgeable faculty, medical students and residents will learn the latest in medical treatments, train on the most sophisticated medical technology, and participate in a wide array of academic experiences. Our hospital’s affiliations with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and Drexel University College of Medicine allow our trainees to refine their mentorship and teaching skills. Currently, 10 PCOM third year medical students participate in our clinical campus for an entire year: 5 students at Nazareth Hospital and 5 at St. Mary Medical Center. Various medical students from Drexel as well as other medical schools also participate in rotations through our hospital.

As part of one of the largest Catholic Health system in the country, we also take our mission very seriously. We are committed to the Core Values of Reverence, Commitment to Those who are Poor, Justice, Stewardship and Integrity. So if you are looking for a residency that is committed to a long legacy of health and healing, and you are someone who is excited by the chance to have an impact in the early development and improvement of our programs, I would invite you to join us.

If you are a medical student who values a supportive learning environment and a family atmosphere and are interested in rotating with us, please contact Diane Loftus at dloftus@mercyhealth.org to arrange your rotation.

We look forward to meeting you and having you join our St. Mary family!
