Our Stroke Centers at Mercy Fitzgerald, Nazareth Hospital, Saint Francis Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center have each been certified by The Joint Commission as Primary Stroke Centers.
Clinical excellence combined with respectful delivery of state-of-the art care defines our stroke program and sets us apart. Our stroke team comprises board-certified physicians, nurses, therapists and social workers and offer an integrated approach to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of and education about stroke. In addition to being certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, Mercy Fitzgerald has:
- Earned the American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold-Plus Award in multiple years
- Continued national certification of our Acute Rehab program by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
- Actively participated in The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Program by using proven science-based treatment guidelines for stroke, including those developed by the American Stroke Association, American Heart Association and Brain Attack Coalition.
Stroke Education Class
Our community-focused stroke education classes at Mercy Fitzgerald bring together stroke survivors and medical professionals. Education about stroke, its aftereffects, subsequent stroke prevention, managing risk factors and more. All are welcome.
Nazareth Hospital has a long-standing history of providing excellent and nationally recognized stroke care. Our stroke teams comprise board-certified physicians, nurses, therapists and social workers and offer an integrated approach to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of and education about stroke. Nazareth is certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Other recognitions include:

- Target: Stroke Honor Roll recipient. Awarded for meeting stroke quality measures that reduce the time between hospital arrival and treatment with the clot-busting drug, tPA

As a Primary Stroke Center accredited by The Joint Commission, Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware provides rapid diagnosis and treatment. In addition to being certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, Saint Francis has:
- Earned the American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Gold-Plus Award in multiple years
- Actively participated in The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Program. As one of the first in the region to have earned accreditation as Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission, St. Mary Medical Center’s Comprehensive Stroke Center and its multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals provide an integrated emergency rapid-response team to recognize and treat stroke as quickly as possible. If you are a stroke survivor, your knowledge and experience can help and support other stroke victims and their caregivers. You can choose the times convenient to you to visit with patients at St. Mary who have experienced a stroke.
