Liver Transplant Program
We are pleased to announce a partnership with Penn Medicine that will expand our community’s access to advanced liver disease and transplantation. The Penn Transplant Institute will provide patients with access to world-class transplant care closer to home.
Patients will now have access to consultations for liver transplantation at Mercy Fitzgerald and can visit the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for procedures that cannot be performed at Mercy Fitzgerald.
The Liver Transplant Program at Mercy Fitzgerald cares for patients with the following conditions:
- Bile duct diseases
- Fatty liver
- Hemochromatosis
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Liver cancer
- Liver cirrhosis
- Liver masses
The Penn Transplant Institute is the region’s most experienced transplant program and has performed more than 12,500 solid organ transplants. Penn consistently meets or exceeds national survival outcomes for liver transplants and offers one of the country’s largest living-donor transplant programs—an option that reduces time on the waiting list and improves outcomes.
