My residency at MCMC has changed me as a person and as a physician. The learning experience was impeccable. I have not just gained medical knowledge but found my family and home away from home. I am truly grateful to all my mentors and every person that has helped me grow into who I am. I cannot wait to be back as a Hematologist/Oncologist to this program and to my Mercy family.

I had a great experience at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a large part due to the excellent teaching from the faculty and close-knot community fostered among the residents. The camaraderie between all members of the team, including residents, attendings, nursing, social work, physical therapists etc., fostered an excellent environment to learn in, I hope to carry the clinical pearls I learnt at Mercy Fitzgerald into my future training and practice.

It is my utmost pleasure to have trained in Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. Here I met a lot of intelligent people which includes the teaching staff, the residents, the interns, the nurses, physical therapists, and all others who take care of the patients. I had already worked in other teaching hospitals as a trainee, that is Hahnemann Hospital and Cooper University Hospital. When I compare Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital to other teaching hospitals, it has everything the resident would need later in his/her career & life. Today I am leaving Mercy Fitzgerald with heavy heart, because I have made a lot of good friends here. I will be in touch with Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and his people for the rest of my life. This hospital will always have impression on my life and my career. I must mention the name of Dr. Rather, Dr. Russell, Dr. Raj and many other teaching attendings who have worked with residents with hard work and made them better people.

I am honored to share my heartfelt testimonial for Mercy Catholic medical Center, where I completed three years of my medical training. Throughout my residency, this institution provided me with a nurturing environment and invaluable support, fostering my growth personally and professionally.
At the heart of my experience at Mercy Catholic Medical Center was Dr. Russell, who played a pivotal role in my journey. Dr. Russell took me under his batman wing and provided unwavering guidance, serving as a mentor, and advocated for my career aspirations. His dedication and genuine care made me feel lie a fostered child, always supported, and encouraged to reach for the stars.
I am also immensely grateful to Dr. Raj, whose commitment to teaching was evident every step of the way. His passion for sharing knowledge and his ability to inspire constantly ignited a love for learning within me. Dr. Raj’s guidance and expertise were instrumental in shaping my educational experience during residency.
Within the medical center, I had the privilege of learning from outstanding physicians like Dr. Rather, Dr. Nair, Dr. Alauddin, Dr. Jilani, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Shah. Their collective wealth of knowledge and expertise created an enriching environment where I was able to develop a strong foundation in my field. These exceptional doctors not only imparted invaluable clinical skills but also empowered me with autonomy, encouraging independence and growth.
Mercy Catholic Medical Center provided me with a supportive community that believed in my potential and provided the resources and opportunities necessary for me to thrive. I am deeply grateful for the dedication, mentorship and knowledge that I received during my time there.
In conclusion, my experience at Mercy Catholic Medical Center has been transformative. The institution’s commitment to excellence, compassionate care, and fostering the growth of its residents is truly commendable. I will carry the lessons and values I learned at Mercy Catholic Medical Center with me as I embark on the next phase of my medical career, forever grateful for the lasting impact it has had on my life.

At the end of two years of my internal medicine residency training at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, I can confidently say I made the right choice in choosing this program for training. One of the important reasons that made me choose the program apart from academics was the level of comfort I felt during the interview with the ancillary staff, faculty and residents. I believe this culture at Mercy has made this challenging phase more than bearable, and I have made friends and mentors for life in the process.
Mercy is definitely an excellent community program to train residents to pursue hospitalist and primary care positions. It is also an exceptional institution to develop academic skills for residents to pursue fellowships in university programs or take up teaching positions. Residents are given ample opportunities to perform clinical research, teach medical students, perform several clinical procedures and provides autonomy to make important medical decisions.
My personal experience with Mercy has been best in the ICU. The ICU curriculum here is top notch. If a resident is interested in critical care training, they can do up to six months of ICU in their three years of residency. This training has made me confident in my clinical, procedural and management skills, which has helped shape my interest in pursuing a career in critical care. Being a safety net hospital, Mercy has trained me to deal with professional, emotional, and social dilemmas effectively.
I am proud to be a part of the Mercy family. Mercy has taught me medicine and more, and the experience here has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

What I most enjoy about my residency experience at Mercy are the collegial atmosphere and the exposure to a wide range of diseases that challenges my clinical skills and management on a daily basis. There is good camaraderie within the residency program, with colleagues willing to step up for each other to fill in any scheduling changes. As a residency program without fellows, residents get to perform many procedures and obtain great hands on experience and develop close relationships with attending physicians, who are available if you have questions, and frequently take time out of their day to teach clinical pearls. As a community based residency program, Mercy's primary focus is producing well-trained clinicians. However, many of the graduating residents have gone onto fellowships in competitive academic programs and specialties, or entered practice in highly desirable locations. If given the opportunity to do so, I would choose MCMC again in a heartbeat!

Mercy Catholic Medical Center offers a wonderful work and educational environment. The Internal Medicine residency program emphasizes work-life balance and the importance of mental health during these stressful years. In our three years of training, we are emerged in all aspects of health care. Our location and patient demographic offer us the opportunity to see a wide range of medical issues, and gives us the skills to comfortably manage complex disease processes. Daily noon conferences, M&M conferences, morning reports led by highly trained attending physicians, and extensive training in the ICU are only a few of the strengths of the program. This program has molded me into a confident physician, ready to step out into the real world and begin an independent career.

Mercy Catholic Medical Center is an ideal environment to learn how to practice the art of internal medicine. It is a community setting with the feel of an academic facility. Many medical students obtain their education at our facilities, and all of our residents are encouraged to pursue their various interests and career choices. We receive high-quality didactics in protected time, and our independent studies are supported. Our clinical training is top-notch. Our residents practice ownership over medical decisions; Teaching attendings listen to our plans and appreciate our input. Graduated autonomy is practiced in all settings, including the ICU, the medical floors, clinics, and consult services. There are many busy days and nights, but they prepare us to practice anywhere.
Without any fellowship programs in-house, the internal medicine residents are the first to evaluate and manage patients in most settings. We are also unopposed when performing most bedside procedures, such as obtaining arterial and central venous access. This program has allowed me to grow into an independent physician, and I certainly feel ready to practice on my own as my residency comes to an end.
The faculty and GME staff are very supportive, allowing us to concentrate primarily on our education. Residents can openly bring any questions, concerns, or suggestions to the GME department's attention, and they will always consider them and address them promptly. Possibly the program's biggest strength is the culture created among the residents, which is something that I would never trade.
The Mercy Catholic Medical Center family takes care of everyone. We turn no one away. The community that we care for is in very high need of the medical care, compassion, and support we provide. It is a vastly underserved community, and for this reason, we do end up seeing a broad array of progressing pathology. The heart of why we all go into medicine is to help people. At Mercy, we receive a quality education while helping those in need.

I wish I could take credit for choosing Mercy Catholic Medical Center; however, it chose me and I could not be more grateful. When choosing a residency program, it is important to remember what kind of physician you want to be, and often we are initially clouded by what we think is important. When you finish your training at mercy, you are guaranteed to know how to handle “bread and butter” medicine cases independently, which is not something that is common to other programs. At Mercy, we are provided with a great balance of autonomy and guidance, and are often given the freedom to interact with different specialists and develop projects and write abstracts on a daily basis. In addition, the friendships made amongst residents are unlike any other, and being at a community center, we have the opportunity to work with each other more closely, therefore, build stronger bonds and networks. Mercy chose me, and if I had the option, I’d choose it too every time.

Mercy Catholic Medical Center's Internal Medicine residency program is a receptive environment where residents have the opportunity to work closely with hospitalists, medical subspecialists, and intensivists. The faculty at Mercy are readily available and willing to serve as mentors throughout training. As an osteopathic physician, I value Mercy's attention to the incorporation of osteopathic medicine into both medical education and clinical practice. At Mercy, the attending physicians trust their residents and allow learners to develop a feeling of independent practice, all while providing appropriate supervision. Mercy's devotion to resident education prepared me to be a competitive applicant and was influential in my placement into a Critical Care Medicine fellowship (Rowan SOM/Jefferson Health/Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes).
Learning from and providing care to patients within this close-knit community has been the most fulfilling aspect of training at Mercy. Serving an additional year here at Mercy as chief resident, I can proudly say that I made the right decision in choosing this program for my training in internal medicine!

I consider myself privileged to have completed my Internal Medicine residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center. This is a well-rounded program, which allows the perfect balance of a supportive educational environment, with faculty committed to provide guidance, and patient-care autonomy. The internal medicine faculty and specialists are highly skilled in their field and deeply dedicated to teaching residents. Residents are encouraged to participate in research projects, management conferences, and scholarly activities. As a highly competitive teaching hospital, many of the daily conferences are presented by renowned physicians from our program as well as nationwide. The mainstay of the program is the vast diversity of pathology, which has greatly simplified the transition to my current position as attending physician in Pennsylvania. The culture at Mercy Catholic Medical Center provided the perfect environment to foster long-lasting relationships with residents and faculty. I will always consider Mercy Catholic Medical Center my second home.

The internal medicine training program at MCMC is a truly robust experience. The patient population is diverse, the pathology is broad, and the work is fulfilling. MCMC provides all the tools one needs to prepare themselves for their future career whether it be starting practice as an independent physician or moving on to further training in fellowship. Over the course of the training you get valuable inpatient, critical care, and ambulatory experience with attending physicians who are experts in their field. After spending three collegial years at MCMC I was very comfortable to start my career as an ambulatory physician.

Mercy Catholic Medical Center has unique characteristics that make it a very good place to train. From a vast array of common pathologies that the trainee becomes adept at treating to a very rigorous clinical experience, MCMC will provide any trainee with the type of "on-the-job" training that will grow that person into a competent physician, especially in today's medical landscape. MCMC serves patients in an at-risk population that heavily relies on the care they receive from the hospital. You will have the opportunity to not only see the patients as an outpatient in the clinic but also if there is decompensation, you will be able to help get the patient back to wellness. Completing residency at MCMC will put you through the clinical rigor needed to help grow you into a capable and compassionate physician.

I completed my Internal Medicine residency in June of 2019. My favorite thing about training at Mercy was the camaraderie that was developed over the course of three years. You really develop close relationships with your fellow residents, attendings, nurses, support staff and program leadership. I feel one of the biggest strengths of completing residency at Mercy is that you develop strong clinical skills that allow you to be confident as an attending once your training is complete. I personally decided to go directly into practice instead of fellowship and I was signed to a contract by the beginning of my third year of residency. I found serving the population of Delaware County and West Philadelphia to be the most fulfilling part of my residency. If I were to choose one thing that I would want someone to know about the program is that once you have completed your training you will be prepared for a career in medicine.

My favorite thing about Mercy is the overwhelming feeling of family atmosphere and care for one another by all staff. From the cafeteria to the ICU, everyone is there to help and encourage. Some of the strengths of our program are the diversity of patients, high standard of patient care and the level of autonomy residents can get during their training. All this allowed me to blend right in with experienced doctors practicing for decades without any issues and earn their trust very quickly. Mercy graduates are ready for anything the current health care system can throw at them and with many opportunities to do research, many of our graduates move on to very competitive fellowships and job opportunities.
>The camaraderie of my colleagues and the compassion of our teaching staff made it easy to cope with long hours of residency training and helped me become a competent physician. Mercy taught me how to be compassionate and patient under stress, an essential skill for modern hospital doctors. Mercy's residency program continuously makes changes, trying to improve and fine tune resident training with noticeable changes year to year. I think it is the biggest strength of our program, not standing still and moving with time.

It's been more than three years since I finished my Internal Medicine residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center. Since that time, I've worked with internal medicine house staff at five other programs and started fellowships at two local academic institutions. Due to my experience at MCMC I felt just as prepared as other fellows with pedigrees from multiple academic centers.
Although my training in medicine (especially critical care) was superb, the most important lessons at MCMC were the multidisciplinary rounds, ethics discussions, humanitarianism work, documentation tips, coding/billing suggestions, QI presentations, and the amazing experience of dealing with two completely different patient populations. Mercy always felt like a close-knit family to me and I still have special relationships with many of the people I used to work with there. I can wholeheartedly admit that if I had the choice to do my Internal Medicine residency again, I would pick Mercy Catholic Medical Center all over again. The foundation that I built there has helped me in every aspect of my medical career thus far.

As I start my job as a gastroenterologist with Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic in October 2020, I reflect back on the time I spent at MCMC. I spent three years as an Internal Medicine resident and one year as chief resident. I believe the strength of this training program lies in its collegiality, resident autonomy in a supportive environment and dedicated faculty. I never felt I was 8,000 miles away from my friends and family and I am excited to be back and be a part of my extended family once again!
MCMC internal medicine residency program has a well-rounded curriculum and delivers high-quality clinical training with commitment to education, high professional standards and compassionate patient care giving residents ample opportunity to grow and follow their chosen career path, be it a hospitalist or a PCP or any competitive fellowship. Solid clinical training coupled with excellent mentorship and multiple opportunities for clinical research in the greater Philadelphia region ultimately paved the path to the completion of my GI fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania. Here in Philadelphia, there are ample resources for those seeking personal and professional growth and for recreational activities. In my opinion, you will not regret choosing this place to spend the next three exciting years of your life. Good luck!
The Internal Medicine residency program at Mercy Catholic Medical Center is full of very supportive and caring faculty and staff who are wonderful educators and mentors for great patient care. Teaching clinical rounds provide invaluable bedside education that sticks in your memory and really helps you understand the logical explanation of disease and treatment strategies much better. The well-rounded curriculum provides an effective and rewarding learning experience that includes many opportunities for personal growth and responsibility. I feel the training that I have received at the program can rival any other program across the country. I feel confident in my abilities to provide an evidence-based care to my patients. It's a wonderful place to learn and grow as a physician.
