PET-CT

radiologist in lab

PET/CT imaging is the latest technological advancement in the fight against cancer. PET/CT provides physicians with the most powerful tools available to diagnose and treat many types of cancer. Better, faster scans translate into more precise cancer treatments and ultimately a greater chance of recovery and improved quality of life for our patients.

This technology integrates a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner with a 16-slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner. The combination of the two modalities offers significant advantages to either modality alone. The information obtained from the two scans allows for correlation of any abnormal metabolic activity with the regional anatomy as demonstrated by the CT scan. This results in greater accuracy than either method alone. Patients also benefit from less time on the table, faster results, and greater comfort.

PET/CT will assist in cancer care by:

  • Providing information to assist in staging
  • Accurately guiding biopsies
  • Monitoring response to treatment
  • Targeting radiation therapy
  • Detecting early recurrences
  • Characterizing pulmonary nodules

The PET/CT will aid in early and accurate disease detection and support our physicians in improving diagnosis and treatment.
