Baby warmerThe impact of COVID-19 on schools, work, personal lives, and our economy was profound. For one couple, it meant an unexpected and significant boost to their business. It was not long before the financial gain became an inspiration to support the larger St. Mary Medical Center community. “It all started with a call and a question of ‘how can I help?’” shared James Green, Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. “They wanted to help our healthcare teams care for our community now and into the future. We talked about possible projects they could fund and landed on supporting new families through a gift to the Mother Baby Unit.”

NICU staffThat gift was to purchase a fleet of state-of-the-art baby warmers, one for each private post-labor room on the floor. “The warmers do everything from weighing to warming to assessing vitals. They can even do x-ray and support resuscitation if needed. Most importantly, they keep the baby in the room with their mother during their stay in the hospital,” said Marie Schickler, Administrative Director of Nursing.

“We are grateful to our donors for their generous support. Thanks to their gift, we are taking great care of our youngest patients and supporting meaningful bonding time with their families,” shared Anna Kucuk, Mother Baby nurse manager.
