critical care doctorsIn celebration of Nazareth’s 80th Birthday, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise support for hypothermal cooling technology to benefit cardiac patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The campaign closed having successfully surpassed the goal, raising $61,490 from 61 donors. Colleagues, physicians, and community members contributed to the campaign by sharing it on social media and making gifts.

The state-of-the-art temperature management system provides timely interventions for cardiac patient through special cooling pads placed on the legs, arms, and torso of the patient. The ICU team can then quickly and carefully lower a patient’s core temperature to prevent dangerous swelling. This non-invasive, life-saving treatment is critical for cardiac arrest patients who are at risk for neurological damage.
