Genetics
Learn more about your risk using the online Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool (BCRAT), which is based on a statistical model known as the Gail Model, named after Dr. Mitchell Gail, Senior Investigator in the Biostatistics Branch of the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics.
Across Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, we offer services to help support you and your family:
We offer genetic counseling to help advise you and family affected by or at risk of genetic disorders. Our certified genetic counselors help to determine your risk and provide information about the different genetic tests available. They help to educate about genetic factors related to diseases and how they impact you, your treatment options and your family.
Our genetic counselors are trained to help determine what tests may be right for you. Genetic testing helps physicians identify changes and abnormalities in your chromosomes, genes or proteins which can confirm or rule out suspected genetic conditions. Results can help determine what treatments to recommend to lower your risks and what screenings you should undergo.
