Langhorne, Pa. – (November 12, 2024) – St. Mary Medical Center is pleased to announce that orthopedic surgeon Eric Gokcen, MD, has been presented with the 2024 Pierce E. Scranton Humanitarian Service Award.

The Pierce E. Scranton Humanitarian Service Award was established by the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Foundation in 2020 to recognize exemplary service to humanitarian programs. The award is named after Pierce E. Scranton Jr., MD, founder of the AOFAS Foundation and an integral member of the society’s Overseas Outreach Project, which offers AOFAS members the opportunity to provide medical care to children and adults in underserved areas of the world.

Recipients of the Pierce E. Scranton Humanitarian Service Award have demonstrated a passion for foot and ankle orthopedic humanitarian work by providing surgical expertise and training in areas of the world with limited foot and ankle care.

“This award is a remarkable honor as well as a testament to St. Mary Medical Center’s commitment to the underserved—no matter where they are in the world,” says Michael Magro, DO, president of St. Mary Medical Center. “Dr. Gokcen is an exemplary member of our medical staff, and I am so proud to have him representing our team as he embarks on mission trips to provide compassionate care to those most in need.”

Dr. Gokcen sees patients at Orthopedics Langhorne, an orthopedics and sports medicine physician practice located at St. Mary Medical Center. To request an appointment with Dr. Gokcen, call 267-364-9100.
