Darby, Pa. — (September 12, 2022) — Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital was recently recognized by the American Hospital Association (AHA) for 100 years of participation and leadership in the AHA. Founded in 1898, the AHA is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, healthcare networks and their patients and communities. Nearly 5,000 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.

“It is an honor to be recognized among those with 100 years of AHA membership,” said Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital president Chris Cullom. “We are grateful for the support we receive from the AHA in our efforts to ensure the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.”

Cullom accepted a 100-year recognition plaque on behalf of the hospital from AHA regional executive Michael Draine during a special presentation in August.

“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for 100 years of membership in the AHA and for their continued commitment to serving their patients and communities in Delaware County and Southwest Philadelphia,” said Draine. “We thank Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital’s leaders, caregivers, and other staff for their dedication to their mission of improving health and providing the highest quality care.”

Consistently recognized for clinical excellence, Mercy Fitzgerald is proud of its many quality achievements, including awards from the American Heart/Stroke Associations, recognitions from U.S. News & World Report as high performing in multiple specialty areas, and now the milestone membership anniversary in the AHA.
