Dr. Tohamy was inspired to specialize in general and bariatric surgery during his fellowship training. He became fascinated with the transformative potential of bariatric surgery to manage diseases such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension. “This surgical intervention can halt the progression of these diseases and mitigate their long-term impact,” Dr. Tohamy explains.

He has a keen interest in the advancements in surgical techniques, particularly the evolution of minimally invasive surgery. “The future of surgery is promising, particularly with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the medical field,” Dr. Tohamy adds. “AI in minimally invasive and robotic surgery has the potential to significantly enhance safety, improve patient outcomes and accelerate recovery.”

He believes this technology can add to his compassionate and personalized patient-care approach by further enabling seamless integration of various medical specialties, through collaboration and ensuring safer outcomes. “I view my patients as extended family members and strive to understand their health and life circumstances comprehensively,” Dr. Tohamy says. “Their well-being serves as a barometer of my success, and I dedicate significant time to acquiring in-depth knowledge about their health to provide optimal treatment.”
