Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
Lateral epicondylitis, more commonly called tennis elbow, is a painful condition typically caused by overusing the forearm muscles that attach to the outside of the elbow. There are a couple of treatment options available for tennis elbow, with surgery being the last option. Before surgery is considered, your orthopedic doctor may recommend:
- Avoiding repetitive elbow motions or activities that cause pain.
- Bracing of the forearm to reduce stress on the injured tissue.
- Over the counter pain medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen.
- Icing your elbow and forearm to reduce inflammation.
