Wilmington, Del. - (July 11, 2024) – Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, has been named a recipient of a 2024 IPRO Quality Award presented in recognition of its significant achievements in improving health care quality. Saint Francis Hospital is a participant in the IPRO Hospital Quality Improvement Contract (HQIC). HQIC is a federal program focused on improving the quality of care provided to Medicare patients across the United States. It is funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS).
Saint Francis Hospital was recognized for its commitment to sharing best practices and decreasing readmission rates. Saint Francis Hospital worked with Qlarant, a collaborator in the IPRO HQIC, to achieve measurable quality improvement outcomes working with the IPRO HQIC and HCA on a project to implement The Healthy Village® at Saint Francis Hospital, a unique model of care designed to improve patient outcomes by focusing on social determinants of health.
“We are honored to receive the IPRO Quality Award, which recognizes Saint Francis Hospital’s commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.” Says Christine Falcone, vice president of Quality, Safety and Care Transformation at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. “This honor recognizes the hard work our colleagues do to ensure infection prevention and quality care.”
“Recognizing providers that achieve measurable improvement in their quality outcomes is an important aspect of the work we do,” said IPRO CEO Ted Will. “It allows us to showcase the meaningful progress that is made through our partnership with provider organizations that implement evidence-based interventions into their processes.
“We are proud to work with nursing homes, hospitals, community-based providers, and other stakeholders on these important quality improvement initiatives,” said Clare Bradley, MD, IPRO’s Sr. VP and Chief Medical Officer. “Saint Francis Hospital and the other honorees exemplify the dedication of health care providers across the spectrum who have committed themselves to providing the highest quality of care and have done so despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing shortages, an aging workforce and growing number of patients with complex needs.”
Honorees were celebrated at IPRO’s 40th annual meeting in June. That event also featured a keynote address, “How AI Can Transform Long-Term Care,” presented by Timothy Hoff, PhD, professor of Management, Healthcare Systems, and Health Policy in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business and School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts. Kathleen Otte, administrator for the CMS New York Regional Office, also gave a presentation, “Collaborating for Quality.”
