Corazon logoPhiladelphia, Pa. — (September 26, 2022) — Nazareth Hospital is pleased to announce that it has received a Service Line of Excellence designation for its CathPCI, Chest Pain Center, and Electrophysiology programs from Corazon, Inc., a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty based in Pittsburgh. Nazareth Hospital becomes the first hospital in the Philadelphia region to receive such a distinction.

To earn accreditation, rigorous onsite evaluations were conducted at Nazareth Hospital to ensure compliance with Corazon’s Accreditation Standards, as well as with the most recent guidelines and recommendations from a range of prominent cardiovascular medical associations, including the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Heart Rhythm Society, and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

The designation demonstrates that the recognized programs at Nazareth Hospital have met or exceeded the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) and that the programs continue to adhere to national and societal guidelines, undergoing detailed quarterly quality reviews to ensure outcomes and practices meet or exceed national standards and other such factors.

“This exclusive accreditation from Corazon is a testament to Nazareth Hospital’s commitment to providing the highest quality level of cardiovascular care possible to our patients and community,” said Michael Magro, DO, MBA, FACOI, president of Nazareth Hospital. “Our team’s dedication, hard work, and exceptional leadership are second to none in our continuous journey to enhance every aspect of our cardiac service line.”

Corazon has worked with over 600 hospitals nationally to evaluate, re-engineer, or implement best-practice PCI programs. Corazon is a long-time champion for PCI without onsite open-heart surgery and notably assisted with the opening of the first PCI program of this type in Pennsylvania. As an accrediting agency on behalf of the PA DOH, Corazon helps to ensure life-saving services are provided in communities across the state.
