Respiratory Therapy
Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic respiratory therapy provides comprehensive services to patients suffering from breathing disorders caused by lung and heart disease. Respiratory therapy services include diagnostic testing, therapeutic treatment, rehabilitation and preventative care, as well as smoking cessation counseling, intervention and education.
Respiratory therapists on staff have advance certifications in emergency care for newborns, pediatrics, and adults; as well as have specialty credentials for diagnostic testing, asthma education, pulmonary condition education, and tobacco dependence intervention. The Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licenses all Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic respiratory therapists.
We provide inpatient respiratory therapy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have specific concentrations in acute care, emergency room, and pulmonary function testing. Our therapists are trained in the current modalities and therapies as well as advanced and cutting-edge forms of ventilation for critical patients.
What to expect
There are several different forms of lung disease and many of them are incurable. A respiratory disease can have a serious impact on your quality of life, and while it may not always be curable, the symptoms can be treated. A respiratory therapist focuses on diagnosing the cause of a patient’s difficulties and teaching prescribed treatments that will combat the debilitating effects. They also train patients on how to use equipment that can help them breathe easier.
Your respiratory therapist will monitor your response to treatment and make adjustments based on the methods that prove most effective. The ultimate goal of the therapy is to improve your quality of life and help you live independently.
