Jody’s journey from cancer diagnosis to recovery

Jody Senatore never imagined she would hear the words, “You have cancer” until her annual screening mammogram revealed abnormal results. Her ob/gyn acted quickly, scheduling her for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound within the same week.
A few months later, Jody was treated for a left breast carcinoma by Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic breast surgical oncologist, Kristin Krupa, MD, who performed a partial mastectomy and Nathaniel Holzman, MD, FACS, chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, who performed oncoplastic reconstructive surgery.
“Jody is an exceptional person,” Dr. Holzman shares. “She faced her cancer diagnosis with this incredible positivity and optimism, which made working with her truly special.”
Dr. Holzman and his team strive to make every patient feel like they are at the center of their care. He takes pride in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Mary Medical Center, especially the microvascular lymphedema program—one of the few on the East Coast. “Seeing patients transform from fearful to confident is what makes this work so rewarding,” he says.
