Did you know that about five million people in the U.S. suffer from a hernia, but only 15 percent of them will seek medical attention?
Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic general surgeon Jessica R. Barton, DO, MS, FACS, specializes in general and minimally invasive procedures including the treatment of hernias. She is passionate about working with patients to improve their quality of life so they can live pain-free and return to the things they love.
As a child, Dr. Barton’s fascination with how the body works fueled her desire to pursue a career in the medical field.
“As I entered medical school, I thought my passion was leading me towards the field of pediatrics,” Dr. Barton says. “During my rotations, I took advantage of many opportunities to rotate between specialties and quickly fell in love with general surgery.”
She continues to be motivated and excited by the advancing technology that allows her to perform complex procedures with minimally invasive techniques and have better outcomes.
