Robert McMurtrieNewtown Square, Pa. — (March 13, 2023) — Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is pleased to announce that Robert McMurtrie, DO, MBA, FAOCA, CPE, has been appointed chief medical officer for Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital.

McMurtrie comes to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic from Tower Health, where he most recently served as vice president and chief medical officer at Phoenixville Hospital. His professional background also includes physician leadership positions at Reading Hospital, Tower Health Medical Group, and a variety of other health care organizations in Wilmington and throughout the greater Philadelphia region.

McMurtrie received a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience, with a minor in Education, at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received a Master of Business Administration degree with dual concentrations in Healthcare Management and Operations Management at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa.

McMurtrie completed his residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pain Management at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, was inducted as a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists, and earned the Certified Physician Executive credential from the American Association of Physician Leaders. Additionally, McMurtrie maintains affiliation with numerous professional health care organizations, has served in a variety of elected leadership positions, and has been published in several medical journals.
