Northeast Philadelphia — (September 26, 2019) — Nazareth Hospital revealed its recently renovated intensive care unit (ICU) during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. During the ceremony, Nazareth Hospital representatives were joined by Pennsylvania state Senator John P. Sabatina Jr. and former Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania Mike Stack.
Nazareth Hospital received a series of grants totaling $1.6 million from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to help fund operations over a five-year period of time. Sen. Sabatina then presented a Pennsylvania state flag to Dr. Michael Magro, president of Nazareth Hospital, to display in the hospital.
“We are thrilled to welcome patients to Nazareth Hospital’s revamped ICU,” said Dr. Magro. “By upgrading not only the unit’s infrastructure and medical equipment, but also the unit’s appearance, we will be able to better care for our community by providing a space conducive to healing.”
The 18-bed ICU is located on the third floor of the St. Joseph Building wing in Nazareth Hospital. The renovation included several cosmetic and foundational upgrades, such as: new flooring throughout the ICU; updated plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems; and new ceiling-mounted patient lifts and Hill-Rom Patient Care Modules in patient rooms.
“The enhancements in the ICU will help us meet the needs of the communities we serve and ultimately aid in our overall mission of providing people-centered care,” added Catherine Cardillo, director of Pennsylvania advocacy for Trinity Health.
