Graston Technique® for physical therapy patients
August 15, 2019Northeast Philadelphia – (August 8, 2019) – Among the many different types of therapies already offered at Nazareth Hospital’s Center for Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation and Balance, Graston Technique® therapy is now part of the list. Graston Technique® is performed by a trained, certified physical therapist who uses specially designed instruments to target and treat affected soft tissue areas, often resolving issues once thought to be permanent.
"The treatment is similar to a deep tissue massage, except these tools allow for greater precision and pressure that can sometimes be difficult to achieve using just the hands," explains Ankur Kapadia, Graston Technique® certified physical therapist at the Center for Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation and Balance at Nazareth. "We continuously find the results last longer and decrease the number of therapy sessions for the patient."
Some of the conditions treated with Graston Technique® therapy are common problem areas, including:
- Neck pain (cervical sprain/strain)
- Back pain (lumbar sprain/strain)
- Heel pain (plantar fasciitis)
- Knee pain (patellofemoral disorders, patellar tendinosis/tendonitis) Iliotibial (IT) band
- Tennis and golfer's elbow (lateral epicondylosis and epicondylitis)
Nazareth Hospital’s Center for Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation and Balance offers patients a comprehensive approach to healing. Multidisciplinary teams of masters- and doctorate-prepared healthcare professionals develop customized goals to improve a patient's range of motion, strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, endurance, safety and independence – depending on what they need most.
