Chris with new vehicleDarby, PA— (April 12, 2021): Mercy Catholic Medical Center – Mercy Fitzgerald Campus hosted on Monday a blessing and vehicle housing ceremony for its new emergency medical services (EMS) vehicle.

Colleagues and community members gathered outside the hospital for remarks from Mercy Fitzgerald leadership and the blessing of the new EMS vehicle. The vehicle then travelled along Lansdowne Avenue and rolled into the EMS vehicle bay at Mercy Fitzgerald.

The vehicle, a state-of-the-art Advanced Life Support chase car, will support Mercy Fitzgerald EMS response. Mercy Fitzgerald EMS provides 911 service for the Delaware County community, meeting the emergency needs of more than 80,000 residents. Fully equipped Advanced Life Support chase cars help the Mercy EMS team maintain a response rate of less than nine minutes, beating the national average.

EMS vehicle“At Mercy Fitzgerald, we are always looking for ways to further improve our care delivery,” said Chris Cullom, president of Mercy Catholic Medical Center. “The new EMS vehicle will help the Mercy Fitzgerald EMS team continue to provide necessary, timely care to community members most in need.”

The new vehicle was made possible through charitable contributions from the community, including lead gifts from Gerolamo, McNulty, Divis & Lewbart, P.C. and Marquis Health Services.
