First hospital in Delaware County with the leading-edge technology

3t wide boreDarby, Pa. — (September 8, 2020) — Mercy Catholic Medical Center – Mercy Fitzgerald Campus has invested in leading-edge 3T wide-bore MRI technology for its radiology department. 3T MRI technology will dramatically improve the speed of MRI procedures performed at Mercy Fitzgerald, provide higher resolution images for diagnoses and improve the overall patient experience.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues in the body. Patients are placed on a traditional MRI bed, but once they enter the MRI machine, they experience an immersive audio and video environment where patients can speak to technicians, watch videos and feel more relaxed.

“We are proud to offer this new technology to improve the health outcomes of our patients,” said Oleg M. Teytelboym, M.D., Chair of Radiology at Mercy Catholic Medical Center. “Not only will our patients experience more comfort, but also our academically trained radiologists will be able to deliver results in half the time.”

The new 3T wide-bore MRI is now available. Patients who have a prescription and authorization can schedule an appointment by calling 610.237.2525.
